Safe Schools

Forest City P.S.

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on positive citizenship/kindness and cross divisional relationships between students to create a supportive school community.

We are doing this to/because if all students are supported in making positive choices and can be positive citizens (e.g. be respectful and kind, take ownership for their actions, contribute in a meaningful way, help others, etc.), then the school will be a safe, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming place for students to learn.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Modelling, encouraging, and acknowledging acts of citizenship/kindness within the school community (e.g. kindness initiatives, Falcon Feather Acknowledgments for Acts of Kindness/Citizenship, adult modelling)
  • Forging relationships across divisions (e.g. Reading Buddies, Falcon Friends - Students supporting Students, Falcon's Nest)
  • Students will participate in assemblies and leadership opportunities to support citizenship/kindness (e.g. Falcon Feather Sharing Assemblies, Leadership Club)

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about one thing that they did to make school a happier place for someone else.
  • Try sharing weekly kindness quotes at home with your child.
