What is Running & Reading?
Running & Reading is a fun, after-school club which provides students with the opportunity to improve their physical fitness and reading skills. The club is supported by dedicated volunteers from London Life (our main sponsor) and other businesses within the community, and volunteers from the Forest City Public School staff team lead by Mr. Kelly and Ms. Johnson.
Students work towards a goal of participating in the Start2Finish 5K Running & Reading Challenge and an awards ceremony recognizing each students' achievement at the end of the school year.
Forest City Public School's Running & Reading Club runs from October-June on Wednesday nights from 3:30-5:30pm.
We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of all students who participated in the Running & Reading Club last year and we look forward to welcoming new and returning members to the club for the 2018/2019 school year!

We Trained We Conquered |
We Trained We Conquered The students who participated in the Start2Finish program this year finalized their goal on May 28th at York University by running the 5km race. The volunteers coaches from London Life who is the main sponsor for our school along with volunteer coaches from other companies within the city met every Wednesday. They worked with the children to improve their physical fitness and literacy skills. We boarded the bus from the school at 6:45am and headed off to Toronto to compete in the Running and Reading Challenge. The goal for this year was to have every student that participated cross the finish line within a hour. Our goal was smashed, we had a student finish the race in 24 minutes and become the 2nd fastest overall girl in the race ( Miranda Russell ) and Anthony Rennie was the quickest boy from FDR finishing in 25 minutes the team finished 6th out of 15 teams. Our reading team competed in six different questions and made the coaches very proud of the effort and hard work they had put in preparing for the event. All the coaches and school staff are very proud of the students for their hard work and commitment to the program. Coach Kelly |
